Fishing

Capturing fishing activity can turn an image into beautiful piece of work. Also, it can be good documentation work since it differs from country to country. There are hundreds of methods of fishing. This image was taken in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka.

The bridge is called Kallady Bridge, which is renamed from old British name Lady Manning Bridge. This was built by British in 1920s. Because, they were ruling the country. The Kallady Bridge is an iconic bridge as it was the longest bridge of Sri Lanka and still it gives beautiful scene to the land. Also, it was built over the Batticaloa lagoon where you can hear songs of singing fish. Likewise, there are some facts that turn the bridge as an icon to the land. You can see fishermen in this lagoon. They use traditional and semi-modern technology to catch fish.

Fishing near Kallady Bridge, Batticaloa, Sri Lanka.

I went there by morning. I have chosen morning for two reasons. One is for good atmosphere and second is for fishing activities. The image does not have significant importance since the cast net is not clearly visible. However, I would title the image as “Fishing the Kallady Bridge”. I hope you could capture my intention. Morning atmosphere, fisherman’s dress color and canoe’s color give additional feature to the image. Also, bridge gives leading line.
